Mold and Mildew Removal Solutions
Both of our picks are effective not only for professional mold remediation but also for use around the home. They can be applied with a cold fogger, sprayed, brushed or with a cloth.
The solution in both cases is bleach-free and does not need to be wiped away after application. Simply apply the remover to mold and mildew and then allow to dry.
RMR is well known by mold control and remediation companies. RMR-141 is a mold remover and fungicide, formulated to remove bacteria, mildew, mold and viruses.
RMR-141 also disinfects and removes odors, too. Their formula is registered with the EPA as a disinfectant.
The manufacturer states RMR-141 to be appropriate for water damage restoration, sewer clean-up, mold removal, disinfecting non-porous surfaces and deodorizing treated areas. Beyond it’s use in mold remediation and flood clean-up, RMR recommends it for deep cleaning in day cares facilities, homes, hospitals, hotels, public bathrooms, public transit, restaurants, schools and more.

The other go-to mold removal solution is Concrobium. It is safe for use in both residential and commercial applications. Like our top pick, Concrobium is free of harmful chemicals and need not be scrubbed or rinsed after use. It can be applied and then left to dry.
According to Concrobium, their formula “crushes mold spores as it dries and leaves behind a protective shield to prevent future growth.”
Apply by spraying it on or wiping it to rid an area of mold, mildew and musty odors. For larger areas, Concrobium recommends using an ULV fogger.
- Kills mold and protects against future growth
- EPA-registered disinfectant
- Non-bleach, no harsh chemicals
Removing Stains Caused by Mold and Mildew
We’re also including a mold and mildew stain remover. This solution does not remove mold like those above, but instead removes the stains left behind by mold. It is also by RMR.
RMR-86 is a mold stain removal solution for household use. It is specifically made to remove stains from black mold and mildew.
Common uses include removing mold and mildew from shower doors, tile grout and on other bathroom surfaces. It’s use doesn’t stop there, however.
RMR-86 can be used to remove mold stains from bathtubs, brick, concrete floors, decks, drywall, tile, wood and vinyl siding.
Just to be clear, if you’re looking for mold removal, the two products above are what you need. RMR-86 is for stains caused by mold and mildew.
